There's still going to be a Batman game released this fall, it just won't be Batman: Arkham Knight. Instead, you'll have to get your DC superhero fix with Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which is still scheduled for this fall (knock on wood). As for the Arkham Knight,Warner Bros. delayed the launch until June 2, 2015, though if you're super anxious with excitement, you can place your pre-order today.
The delay gives developer Rocksteady more time to flesh out the expansive open-world setting and squash any annoying bugs it might discover between now and its release. As the final game in the Arkham trilogy, there's a bit of pressure to get everything right.
Batman: Arkham Knight picks up one year after Arkham City and features the caped crusader going up against a variety of villains. As Batman, you'll have access to some familiar weapons and gadgets, including the grapnel gun, line launcher, batarangs, and more.
"In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever," Warner Bros. says. "Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady's uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City. Be The Batman."
Several retailers and e-tailers are already accepting pre-orders for Batman: Arkham Knight. By pre-ordering, you'll unlock the playable Harley Quinn add-on. You can also opt for a pair of special edition bundles -- one is the Limited Edition ($100) bundle with custom art book, SteelBook case and game disk, limited edition comic book, character skin pack, and Batman Memorial Statue, while the other is the Batmobile Edition ($200) that comes with the same bonuses except it trades the Batman statue for a transforming Batmobile statue.
